A New Week -- A New Schedule
As I discussed at the end of last week we are going to try a few things different now. For the most part they worked today. We didn't cover as much ground as I would like, but we had to set up our notebooks, show how things were going to be done and get our feet wet.

We had our hour together time this morning (spent setting up the new system). The kids did their usual stuff and had a math lesson and scouts on top of that. The rest of the day was spent installing and playing a few new computer games I purchased over the weekend. I got a new Where in the World is Carmen San Diego and the kids spent all afternoon playing that one. I also got another educational package that had some kids games in it and the kids spent a few minutes playing around with it.

I felt bad they spent all that time playing it until dinner time when they started talking about different counties. They were talking about languages spoken in different counties. They talked about how long it would take someone to walk between here and there. They talked about all sorts of geographic things. I even jumped in and quizzed them a bit and I was very surprised at how much they learned. I also didn't feel so bad because I spent the afternoon preparing for the next science module and reading up on the Mexican-American War. I also will admit that I also took an hour plus nap, but I didn't set out to do it, it just happened in the middle of learning about fossils.

Chris, Matt, Mike and Jason all had piano lessons this morning and Jason had violin this afternoon.

I also spent a good part of the evening preparing for my homeschool conference June 10th. Things are falling into place like never before. This is very odd and yet comforting. I guess the Lord is looking after me.

Not a bad day. Hopefully tomorrow will be just as good.
