Wednesday that wasn't a Wednesday
I'm so very tired tonight, so this will be short. I think my illness is catching up to me since I didn't sleep well at night.
This morning I handed out the kids assignment sheets with the normal stuff with scouts, subject reading, math, and typing lessons added. On a typical Wednesday I have a scripture class to attend and then I take the younger three to a movement class, but mid winter break and illness has messed us up.
Steve and I have decided to put Kray in Saxon Algebra 1/2 so I went to the local homeschool consignment shop to see if they had it cheaper than online (they did) and spent way too much time and way, way too much money getting some great books. I have a problem with books--I'm addicted. They are still in the box as I'm just too tired to put them away tonight. While I was gone the kids were supposed to do an erosion experiment, but they didn't do it. (I'm not surprised as Kray is so wrapped up in his Decent game.)
I came home and I wanted to get some shelves put together. There is a great sale on some pretty sturdy shelves at Target so I bought two. I am putting my National Geographic magazines on one set and our good children story books on the other. There is a bunch of extra room and I think I will put some education videos on it so the kids can find them. I've learned that as much as I want to hide the "good" stuff so they don't get ruined, if they aren't seen then they don't get used or looked at.
The shelves worked out so well, I took my boys back to Target to help me get four more sets. We are going to turn the spare bedroom into Jessie's bedroom (it has a bigger closet and the sunshine reaches the south windows) and then turn Jessie's room into a storage room. We are going to use those shelves for the storage part of the room. I'm hoping to talk Steve into buying some for his packing room since they are so nice and right now are very cheap at Target.
We ended the day with Young Men's (no cubs because of mid winter break).
